MACS Middle School will participate in a mock trial on Friday, March 25th at the Allegheny County Court House.
The case, “The Estate of Simon Langston v. Dr. Lefu Harrison”, is a medical battery case, presented to high school mock trial teams by the Pennsylvania Bar Association/Young Lawyers Division. This case is a spinoff of the Henrietta Lacks story.
Facilitated by retired K&L attorney Carl Cooper and MACS Educator, Dennis Henderson, the 7th and 8th students of MACS took on this high school challenge by studying the case, the rules of evidence, courtroom procedures and professional etiquette.
These outstanding students will demonstrate what they have learned about the application of law and litigation skills. Playing the role as attorneys and witnesses, these 7th and 8th graders will argue this case in front of Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Judge Joe Williams this Friday.
